Cheatin’ Heart
The other day when I was roaming around the Southwest on the last few days before I head back to California I found a trashy by-the-hour motel that I decided I had to see the inside of (the outside is bright aqua with lawn ornaments and empty random fish tank decor). The place was completely run down in every way- there were no heaters in the freezing rooms (the thermostat on the inner window read 39′), there was an enormous hole in the ceiling above the shower with insulation spilling out, and the back of the chair in the room broke off completely when I tried to move it. The place was so full of character and potential though, I decided to call up Ana, my favorite model in the area, and pick her up at the bridge (she lives in Mexico) and have a spontaneous mini shoot in the room on Sunday. The clothes in the photos are actually what happened to be in my car at the time as I’d been wearing it all for the past few days…(We titled the shoot: Cheatin Heart after my favorite Patsy Cline song and because the photos are in a by-the-hour motel somewhere in Texas.) Here’s how it turned out:

It’s crazy how much this model looks identical to my mother when she was in later high school. I wish I had a photo of her to scan…
