Bohemian Musings…

One of my many favorite blogs is Bohemian Musings. The writer Isa, and I share most many similar life interests: literature, theater, writing, and fashion - this being the case, I decided to interview this gorgeous German bohemian to find out more about her favorite things…

1. What propelled you to start blogging?

I´ve always had this thing for fashion, bought my first Vogue when I was twelve. There is something so creative about the self-expression that lies in fashion that I feel in other areas of the arts too, like writing or acting.
I don´t know exactly how I stumbled onto my first blog, but I think it was Moderniteter or Fashion Toast. I was addicted immediately! After some time it was only natural to start my own blog.

2. All your clothes are so fantastic, who are your style icons and favorite designers?
Thank you - and tell me that again when I´m desperate about what to wear!
The answer to this question always varies…I don´t think I´m generally inspired by one designer or one icon though.
I´m inspired by a general free spirit found in the eras of the sixties/seventies, but can be seen in a simple street style snapshot, in an interview quote from an amazing artist or in a poem line.
To sum it up I´d say Sienna miller in Alfie, Carla Bruni, Edie Sedgwick and characters from books.

3. Who is the most interesting person that you have met through your blog?

Everyone who sends me free clothes! Haha, kidding!
There are so many amazing people I´ve met through the blog, there´s nothing like an email from a stranger telling me she just went through my entire archives because she couldn´t stop reading, that or wine-infused emails I´m exchanging with bloggers I didn´t know two months ago but feel so close already now!

4. If you could be any famous girl from the past who would you be and why?

Anita Pallenberg. I´m fascinated with the ideas of muses and being a Rolling Stones´ muse is the ne plus ultra.

5. Where should we shop, drink and eat in Hamburg?
Hamburg is a beautiful city with a lot of water and greenery in it so you´ll find some amazing spots right in the center.
So random but I LOVE Starbucks! Other than that there are a lot of quirky smaller restaurants and bars that are absolutely worthy leaving the main spots behind.

For your caffeine dose I´d recommend the “Rösterei”, amazing coffee and great location!
As for shopping there are the typical high street shops like Zara, H&M and UO but we´ve got great vintage stores as well like “Vintage and Rags” that has an incredible variety of clothing. Only defect: you´re not allowed to take your coffee cup inside.
As for eating I´m not the right one to ask, I´m usually content with coffee and cigarettes, but you´ll definitely manage to find some decent Sushi or the characteristic “Hamburger Fischbrötchen” behind every corner!

There is a quarter named “Schanzenviertel” that is filled with the quirkiest little bars and cafés. It´s like a puzzle, you never really know what you´ll find there but it´s amazing, reminds me of Greenwich Village a lot.

6. Do you have a day job, or is your blog your job?
I wish!
But really, I am an aspiring student of literature and theater which is kind of a luxury itself. So yes, I have to keep the cash coming with a part time job.

7. Any hobbies?
I love theater. I guess I am someone who needs to express herself. I always loved to be on stage and am currently rehearsing for an open air performance of the Three Musketeers. I´m so absorbed with theater and literature I wouldn´t even call it a hobby anymore as I will start my Theater Studies this year and will hopefully be able to do it as a career then. I will focus on Dramaturgy rather than acting though!

8. Have you always been into fashion? Were you the most fashionable girl at your high School?
Haha, I actually was voted “best dressed” in my final year, whatever that means. I was also voted “coffee bean” and “disco princess”. Now, that was a flashback.

9. Name 5 of your favorite things.

coffee. daisies. wine. poetry. fashion.

10. Pet peeves?
-Self-dyed blonde hair: Hello- lovely shades of yellow with dark brown roots…now, that´s nice.
-Gym pants- outside the gym.
-Acrylic fingernails.

11. You have the whole day free, what do you do you do with your time?
This might vary as well, lately I really like to keep it simple seizing the days and the wonderful weather.
Sleeping not too late, lets say 9AM. Getting up for a nice breakfast consisting of coffee, orange juice and some kind of Muesli. Checking the blog and mails then heading into town for some magazines, another coffee at Starbucks and browsing the shops for a little while.

If the weather is nice going into the park with a book to catch some sunlight before the evening plans are made.
Going home and getting ready to meet friends for some wine and maybe going dancing after wards- wearing something sparkly.

12. What 3 Spanishmossvintage.com items can you not live without?
Only three pieces?
The Autumn Rose Dress, the Thistle & Vine Dress, and the Chloé Sienna Toned Hobo Bag. Sigh.

Thanks, Isa! We love you!

This week has been exhausting to say the least and it isn’t remotely over yet!
Today we picked up about 250 vintage items ( hitting the store this weekend ) and on Monday worked all day on Suzanna production.
Here’s most of our production team hard at work, but sadly our new production intern, Christina, couldn’t make it due to finishing up her last day of the semester!
