Time Out with Hannah + Landon
Hannah and Landon Metz are two picture perfect lovebirds who have graced the web with an abundance of beautiful photographs from their daily life encapsuled in their self titled blog Hannahandlandon. Since the ignition of their ‘love-at-first-click’ romance traced back to a livejournal comment back in 2004, their romance and adventures have captivated a virtual audience green with life-envy. (Viewer’s discretion: Be prepared to spend countless hours consuming pixel perfection in all its glory.) Don’t forget to check out their flickr account as well!

Introduce yourselves.
H: My name is Hannah, I’m presently 25 years of age, living in Brooklyn and one
half of vintage wholesale company The Loved One. Landon and I used to tell
people we met at the airport (which has some truth to it) but really we met on
livejournal.com about six years ago, hehe.
L: My name is Landon Metz, I’m 25, living in Brooklyn and my main occupation
would be freelance graphic designer.
Describe a typical day in your life.
L: I recently made a daily schedule for myself that breaks each day into hourly
blocks. I’ve been doing my best to follow it, haha! An average day starts with
meditation and yoga, then clean up and make breakfast. I start my work day and
depending on the day I’ll either do design or work on artwork for 8 hours with
lunch break. Then I’ll do some reading before the evening. We’ve been having
dinners at our apartment every other wednesday that are open to whoever wants to
come, it’s been really great! Usually on Thursdays we try to walk over the
Williamsburg bridge with some friends and go to openings and walk around the
city, fun!
H: Landon made the same schedule for me that I’ve been having a little more
trouble following, hehe. After my noble attempt at early morning yoga I wash up
and start steaming and prepping clothing for the shop, I then build a stack of
books into a makeshift tripod and make serious faces while wearing a variety of
outfits in front of the camera. Break for a bagel outing and trip to the post
office then return to upload and describe aforementioned outfits and cross my
fingers in hopes that somebody will purchase so I can afford to wake up and do
it all over again! We usually end the day with a game of cards and streaming of
favourite tv shows (right now we’re watching True Blood and Big Love).
What are your musings and inspiration?
H: Pre-20th century European art really floats my boat, the pre-raphaelites
especially hold a sweet place in my heart. Brace yourself for this is going to
be shamelessly cheesy but Landon is most certainly my biggest inspiration.
L: The universal consciousness, free flow of life, minimalism and love. Hannah
obviously plays a major role in the muse department.
If you could compile a collection of songs to make ‘The Soundtrack of Our Life’, what would be on it?
H: This one is difficult! Landon?
L: That is hard! Right now I’m listening to the likes of Terry Riley and Ed
Askew and Black Uhuru and Tata Dindin and a whole lot more! We also play the
classic Mickey Mouse cartoons a lot while we work in our apartment.
H: Haha, yes! Old Mickey songs! Also a lot of Kate Bush, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Lil Wayne!
Where do you find most of your furniture and one-of-a-kind ensembles?
H & L: Flea markets!
What is your favorite part about living in New York? What is the least?
H: You can’t slack off in New York! Everybody is so motivated that you can’t
help but get your business taken care of. We’ve found a pretty wonderful group
of people to surround ourselves with which makes things a million times better
no matter where you are. My least favourite thing? That my family is so far
away! I’m a bit of a mamas girl so it pains me some to be living not only in
another country but on opposite sides of the continent.
L: Everything about New York is amazing, such a vibrant place! I know the day
will come when we will move to a more natural environment and I feel thats all
the city is lacking. It’s the best of one world, but the other will always be
hovering over us, calling us to return and someday we will.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
H: My dream is to have my own shop up and running giving me the freedom to run
around the world collecting goodies and exploring. I’d like to have enough money
and time to give back to a world that has been quite generous with me in love and life thus far.
L: In a really good place.
What have been your favorite places to travel and why?
H: Landon will say Hawaii and I have to agree that it is MOST beautiful and I’d
love to go back. We are at the moment visiting my Dad in my hometown Ottawa and
am thoroughly enjoying it, I guess favourite places to travel are wherever my
family is! Though that is not nearly the exciting answer you had anticipated so
I will also add that I’d like to return to Morocco one day for some more mint
tea and delicious foods.
L: Haha it’s true I love Hawaii, specifically the island of Kaui. It’s a tropical paradise and I’d like to live there one day!
What are your favorite blogs?
H: I enjoy http://fashionforwriters.com, http://alagarconniere.blogspot.com and
http://www.clevernettle.com/blog.
What are your random quirks ?
H: I have a variety of small ailments constantly afflicting me.
L: I looooove spicy food and chocolate.
